  • International Conference on Multimedia & Expo (ICME 2012)

My paper "Automatic Video Editing For Video-Based Interactive Storytelling" as been accepted for publication at the 2012 IEEE International Conference on Multimedia & Expo (ICME 2012)

The IEEE International Conference on Multimedia & Expo is the longest established and most prestigious conference in the field of multimedia. It serves as a forum to promote the exchange of the latest advances in multimedia technologies, systems, and applications from both the research and development perspectives of the circuits and systems, communications, computer, and signal processing communities. With around 1000 submissions and 500 participants each year, the IEEE International Conference on Multimedia & Expo (ICME) has been the flagship multimedia conference sponsored by four IEEE societies since 2000.

The 2012 IEEE International Conference on Multimedia & Expo is being held in Melbourne, Australia in 9th – 13th July, 2012.

My paper presents a real-time method for automatic video editing in video-based interactive storytelling applications. My approach was based in translating cinematography editing theory into computational knowledge to automatically select appropriated transition effects, avoid jump cuts, and create smoothly and continuous video sequences.

  • International Conference on Entertainment Computing (ICEC 2011)

My paper "Draw Your Own Story: Paper and Pencil Interactive Storytelling" has been accepted as a full paper at ICEC 2011 (International Conference on Entertainment Computing).

The ICEC is the longest established and most prestigious conference in the field of entertainment computing. The ICEC 2011 will be held in Vancouver, Canada.

The Paper and Pencil Interactive Storytelling system is able to dramatize interactive narratives in augmented reality over a conventional sheet of paper. The system allows users to freely interact with virtual characters by sketching objects on the paper. Users interacting with the system can indirectly affect the characters' decisions, even to the point of radically subverting the storyline.
